How to tell my son who is eighteen and worried about how to cope myself
Hi Mummy of five and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm really sorry to read that your husband has been diagnosed with incurable cancer of the appendix. This must be an incredibly tough time for the whole family.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend a few for you to join and post in. The first is the pseudomyxoma peritonei group where you'll find other people with cancer of the appendix who you can talk to about treatment, etc.
The other groups are the carers only group, which is for people who are caring for a loved one with cancer, and the supporting someone with incurable cancer group. Both of these groups are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who will understand what you're going through.
To join just click on the links I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Macmillan have some useful information on talking to children and teenagers about cancer that you might like to take a look through. There are links from the page I've linked you to, to books that can be downloaded or ordered to come through the post
When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
