My whole life has been turned upside down in 48 hours. I had a phone call on wednesday from my GP telling me they had seen some concerning things on my recent ultrasound. It was lesions on my liver. I had a ct scan today and a macmillan nurse came to speak to me. This has been in 48 hours. I feel like i’m in a dream, i’m terrified. I’m very tired and I’m not sure what else to say I’m very confused and upset. I’m just hoping for some support. I’m frightened. I’m 44 years old. Thankyou.
Hi Rainbow I have stage 4 breast cancer mets in liver and bones I was diagnosed 3 years ago and on my second set of treatment with many options still to go at the minute my cancer is stable and just keep taking the treatment and live my best life. I know it's scary and I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry until you get your results. I was told I had terminal cancer 3 years ago and thought it was a death sentence but here I am 3 years later still kicking it's ass. If you need to talk I'm here
Hi rainbow4 and a welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnoses.
This is such a stressful and challenging time for you, but when it comes to getting support and asking questions there is nothing better than talking with others who are on the ‘exact’ same cancer and treatment journey.
The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) so once you have a ‘clear’ diagnosis do have a look through this list where you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
Once you are in a position to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) Link I have created above. Once you find group page for ‘your’ type of cancer click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go.
Macmillan have many support services so do check out the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.
Do get back to me if you need further help.
Hi and Thankyou for taking the time to reply to me. I’m sorry you are going through all this, to me you are a very very strong person. I have no idea what my outcome will be I was told yesterday it takes around 4 days for the results and it’s weekend now. I feel like im walking through quicksand and every little pain I get in my stomach frightens me. I just feel very emotional and on edge at the moment. I’m dreading getting the results but I want them at the same time.
Thankyou so much i’m so glad i have a place to come for support it’s very much appreciated x
I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 23 years now so have had time to deal with whatever comes along. My advice is take each day as it comes, collect as much information once you are fully diagnosed and then connect in with our groups….
In the meantime, do call the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 as you will get a supportive listening ear ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
