Hi everyone. I am 71 years young and have just been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. This is my 2nd time cancer in the same breast the original was 35 years ago and nothing since then.
I started chemo 10 days ago and the side effects are getting to me. The one that I funnily enough find most debilitating is the acid/heartburn/indigestion that I have constantly. My mouth and throat are so dry I'm finding it difficult to to generate any siliva and this in turn causes me to cough a lot of the time which is exhausting.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and that you're struggling with the side effects of chemo. I too was diagnosed with this type of breast cancer earlier this year.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the triple negative breast cancer group and also the main breast cancer group which are both great places to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join just click on the links I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi Baba,
I'm also very new to the forum and have just completed my first round of chemo. I experienced similar to you as well as terrible bloating which made it hard to even drink fluids. I spoke to a dietician who explained that the stomach has very active cells so they will be impacted by the chemo and slow things down. On the dietician's advice, I'm trying to up my omega 3 intake between chemo sessions to see if that will help.
I also had a vile metallic taste and very dry mouth. I resorted to chewing gum! The wrong minty taste did give at least temporary respite.
Good luck with your treatment and I hope that your stomach issues subside soon.
