Hi

I have no words to describe how I feel. I don’t even know where to begin.

I have non operable Oesophageal Cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes and Liver.

in all other ways I am fit and healthy!

I am only 52, I have 2 sons, one aged 10 and one 19, how do I deal with this, how do I tell them?

I don’t want to die, I’m so scared I don’t know where to start.

I have been told I will have Palliative Chemo that on average may be give me a year but I know I’m getting worse day by day I know it is spreading and my chemo won’t start for at least another 2-3 weeks, I’m now scared that’ll be too late too.

how do I carry on knowing I’m not going to see my boys grow up?

I can’t sleep, I’m forcing myself to eat to keep my weight up as I’ve already nearly lost a stone / I’m not sure I can do this or how I do this.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm so sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer, and I can only begin to imagine how hard that must be for you.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the living with incurable cancer group and I'm sure the other members there will be happy to share their experiences around the questions you're asking here.

When you feel ready to post there and introduce yourself, you can either click on the link I've created or go there from the group tab in your profile.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
