I was diagnosed in July with grade 3 breast cancer , I have had heart monitoring got blood tests on Monday then chemo on Thursday which I'm absolutely terrified about.

I feel like everything is taking ages to get started and my anxiety is through the roof .

I thought I was a strong person as I lost my mum when I was just 4 years old to breast cancer and my sister has had breast cancer which meant I was put in the family history clinic and meant breast screening every year., but now I've been diagnosed I'm not coping with it.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I have a good idea how you'll be feeling having had a breast cancer diagnosis myself back in April.

I don't know what type of chemo you're having but I've had three cycles of EC and now I'm half-way through 12 cycles of paclitaxel. Like you I was worried about having chemo but thankfully I've tolerated both types well with minimal side-effects. I'm happy to share my experiences of what it's like to go and have chemo if you want to know more.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly to the group. You can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
