Hi I am 48 years old, i have been diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma in my uterus. i have suffered with fibroids and bleeding in the past and was considered the case this time with a hysterectomy booked. this never happened as the scans showed stage 4b and my lung biopsy confirmed this. I am lost, devastated and frightened. i start chemo next week and i just need to find some support and talk to some people who have experienced the same things. Many thanks

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnoses. This is such a stressful and challenging time for you, but when it comes to getting support and asking questions there is nothing better than talking with others who are on the ‘exact’ same cancer and treatment journey.

The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) and I see you have joined and posted in our Soft tissue sarcomas and Womb (uterus) cancer support groups These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

Macmillan have many support services so do check out the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.  We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.

Do get back to me if you need further help.

    All the very best.

  • Hi Boo12,

I am 48 in a few weeks and was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma 18 months ago.

There is a lovely gentleman on here whose wife has the same condition (SC60 from memory) and whose wife has been living with this for some time and is very helpful. As The highlander has said, join the soft tissue group where there are a few more patients with the same cancer.

I wanted to say hi, just to reassure you, you are not alone - which was much needed when i was diagnosed. My story is in my profile and happy if you want to reach out at any time, as I know what a shock this is.

    Best wishes

    Chrissy
