Hi, I’m new to this and it feels surreal to be here. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December last year after a routine mammogram; I had surgery in January this year and was told they had found a stage 3 lump but that alongside it was another stage 2 lump so I would require more surgery to clear the margins. I had another operation in February, however the margins were not quite cleared and I was back for more surgery in March. This time the surgeon successfully cleared the last of the cells. I received 5 rounds of radiotherapy and was started on Letrozole as my cancer is estrogen driven. I had been doing very well and felt really positive. However a few weeks ago I developed a cough and GP said I had a chest infection, I was put on antibiotics and sent for an x ray. GP called me about 10 days later and said x ray showed subtle shadowing and would need to be repeated, I was also given different abx as I still felt poorly. Although I feel better I am worried sick about another x ray and what they might find; I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience, thank you.
Hi LilyDaisy and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
Like you I found I had breast cancer after a routine mammogram and I'm currently half-way through chemotherapy after having had a lumpectomy.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly to the group. You can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
