Morning all, I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, stage 2. Im really struggling with the symptoms and worry about the damage that it’s doing to my body but I don’t feel like I have a choice. Has anyone else chosen not to have chemotherapy? Thanks
Hi Olive Oil1 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm really sorry to read that you are struggling with the side effects of chemotherapy. I too am on chemotherapy for breast cancer but feel very lucky that apart from losing all my hair I haven't had any other major side effects.
As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already joined the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask about other people's experiences.
When you feel ready to post there just click on the link I've provided which will take you directly to the group. You can then start a new post in the same way as you did here.
When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Thanks for your response. You say that you have no other major side effects, are you on any preventative medication during the time between treatments eg anti sickness? Thanks
Hi
I have had 3 cycles of EC (epirubicin and cyclophosphamide) and 4 out of 12 cycles of paclixtaxel.
When I was on EC I was given an anti-sickness tablet to take an hour before the chemotherapy. Then at the hospital they gave me steroids and another anti-sickness tablet to take before they began the chemotherapy. I then had to take steroids for 3 days and anti-sickness tablets for 2 days afterwards and I was also given a packet of anti-sickness tablets for further use if needed but, fortunately I didn't need them.
Now I'm on paclitaxel I'm given an infusion of steroids and anti-histamine half an hour before the chemotherapy begins. I was given another packet of anti-sickness tablets to take if needed but again haven't needed them so far.
