Hi.  My first time.  I n terms of background, I was diagnosed with stage 4 skin cancer (on my scalp) around 4 years ago. I had 4 surgical procedures, only to be told that it had spread behind my eye.  Stage 4 diagnosis.  I was lucky enough to be approved for immunotherapy, and after two years was told I was in remission.  the treatment was stopped by NICE, not my oncologist. I have been having scans and review every three months.   The most recent scans showed something in my neck, and I have to go for a biopsy this Thursday. The expectation of the oncologist is further surgery though, with a likelihood of radiotherapy. Well, that is the background.  My specific question is really mundane.  Can anyone advise on their experience of trying to get reasonable and realistic travel insurance.  The companies I have spoken to were...we' less than helpful.  Having been robbed by the pandemic of what i took and expected to be a last holiday as a whole family (teen aged kids) i booked Greece in a couple of weeks.  Now I am struggling to know what to to do and what is the best thing - even whether I will be able to go with the family. Anyone been through this and any advice?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, as you have found, it can be more difficult to get travel insurance when you've been diagnosed with cancer.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group which is a great place to look for recommendations. Once you've joined look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance' as that's where you'll find the majority of recommendations all in one place.

To join the group just click on the link I've created and if you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
