Hi I’m new.
I was diagnosed yesterday with endometrial cancer. I’m still in shock to be honest. I live alone and normally that’s ok, but currently I’ve never felt so alone. I’m in my 40s and fairly healthy, so I guess if it wants you it takes you. I lost my mum in March to cancer, I held her hand and saw her fear and watched her fight. Myself and family are still mourning, how can I share my fears now, everyones still broken.
sorry just needed to get out the self pitying me.
Hi there. I’m sorry to see that you were diagnosed with cancer but you have a right to your feelings and for care and comfort from friends and family also. As the oldest in a family of 7 children I always put myself last and have paid the price for it. Please know you didn’t cause this and need support. God bless. Please allow friends and family to be their for you.
Hi Skyes, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You've gone through a tough time already, losing your mum. I know your family are still mourning but I'm sure they will want to support you through this. Tell them your fears, open up to them and give them the chance to help you through this. You need all the support you can get. Take care now.
Hi Skyes and welcome to the Community but sorry to see you joining us and to hear about your diagnoses. This is such a stressful and challenging time but when it comes to support there is nothing better than talking with others who are on the exact same cancer and treatment journey.
I see you have joined and posted in our Womb (uterus) cancer group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
Macmillan have many support services so do check out the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.
Do get back to me if you need further help.
All the very best.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
