Colon cancer in 2016. Right hemicolectomy followed by chemo. Now diagnosed with secondary liver and lung cancer. First chemo on 21 Sept. Very severe reaction during and two days after resulting in two days in hospital feeling as if I was dying. Decided no more chemo!!! Saw my oncologist today. He talked me through what had happened and I agreed to have only one chemo drug at 70% of dose. I feel so scared and unsure because of my reaction to the first chemo. Anyone experienced this? Any helpful suggestions?
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a very bad reaction to chemo but hopefully the reduced dose will make it more tolerable.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who have this diagnosis. You might also like to join the secondary liver and secondary lung cancer groups too.
To join any or all of these groups, just click on the links I've provided which will take you directly to the group. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with exiting conversations by clicking on 'reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
