Hi, I am new to this page and thought it may help.
My dad was diagnosed with a Grace 4 Glioblastoma last may. He had chemo, radiotherapy and had surgery to remove his tumour. Luckily he then went into remission and was told that he was NED. Unfortunately forward to this September he went into hospital and what was found was a tumour in the centre of his brain.
now he is looking at months to live. The only option is chemo which he may never have as he is too ill. He gets very tired, his short term memory is bad and he can’t walk for too long. We are told if he will have chemo when he next has a check up in 2 weeks, it may give us more time but time is all we have.
He’s quite young and I am finding it hard to believe what’s happening for me and my family.
Hi Parent with Cancer and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your dad has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma and has recently been told that he only has months to live. I know what a difficult time this will be for the whole family.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the glioblastoma group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others with this type of tumour, and also the supporting someone with incurable cancer group, which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions.
To join, just click on the links I've provided which will take you directly to the group. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with exiting conversations by clicking on 'reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
