hi My mum has just had a lower left lobectomy for lung cancer 10 days ago and was discharged 2 days later. She is taking paracetamol and codeine but the pain is relentless and not under control. Does anyone have experience of this operation? thankyou, Sharon
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your mum is experiencing a lot of pain after having a lobectomy 10 days ago. Has she spoken to her hospital team so that they can prescribe appropriate pain relief? If not, and as it's the weekend, you might need to call 111 today so that they can guide you.
I can see that you've already joined and posted in the lung cancer group which I'm sure you'll find is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.
You might also like to join either the carers only group, if you're your mum's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not. Either of these groups are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
To join, just click on the links I've provided which will take you directly to the group. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with exiting conversations by clicking on 'reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi just read your message I’ve had exactly the same procedure 7 weeks ago and I’m still very sore!!!
Doctors don’t seem to want to change my pain medication which again is exactly the same as your mum seems to me it’s a common form of pain relief for most people….
Seeing my district nurse she recommended that I possibly see a breast care nurse as the pain is in my left breast more so than my side!!
sorry I can’t be of any more help…it’s all very scary at the moment isn’t it!!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
