Melanoma and Me

Hi Everyone.  I thought I'd say something about how I came to be on this forum.

I was diagnosed Stage IV a year ago.  I've had a WLE but not SNLB.  Initial scans last October showed no spread but I had to wait a further two months for my WLE by which time the disease had spread to a Lymph node and further.  My condition is described now as subcutaneous, widespread but low volume.

I'm on pembrolizumab, and have had three cycles out of and initial four with no ill effects so far.  I'm not sure what happens after that.  I have an appointment with the oncologist shortly so will ask.

I am encouraged by the positive stories on here and also on the Melanoma Mates FB page.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you were diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma a year ago but it's great to hear that you feel encouraged by the positive stories you read within this community.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the melanoma group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others.

To join, just click on the link I've provided which will take you directly to the group. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with exiting conversations by clicking on 'reply.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
