Hi, I had an ultrasound scan a couple of weeks ago and they found 2 masses. they have no idea what they are or what they are attached to. I have every scenario going through my head. I have also been known to run from appointments as I get scared, and my head feels like it is going to explode with everything I am being told. I am a loner and find it hard to go out anyway, I tend to stay in my 'bubble' at home and real life terrifies me. I have days where I feel like I'm strong enough to beat whatever they are, and then days where I just can't face it all and sit in front of the TV knitting. My daughter lives literally 30 seconds away, I timed it lol I feel I can't lean on her too much as she has extreme anxiety as it is. We tend to joke our way through it, at the same time knowing how serious it could be. sorry for waffling, it has taken a while for me to come on here, as, you guessed it, it makes it real. I have my first face to face appointment next week then it all starts. Thankyou for reading xx
Hi and welcome to the Online Community although I am sorry to see you joining us and to hear about your ongoing diagnoses.
The cancer Diagnosis process can be such a stressful and challenging time but when/if you have a cancer diagnosis there will be nothing better than talking with others who are on the exact same cancer and treatment journey.
The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) so once you know your diagnosis have a look through this list where you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed. These are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
When you want to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above. Find the group for your cancer and when the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
Macmillan have many support services so do check out the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.
Do get back to me if you need further help.
((hugs))
Thankyou so much for replying. I did forget to say where they were found! They are by my gall bladder/spleen/liver area. they cant see which bit they are attached to so I'll be having a CT soon to find out.
Until they pinpoint the exact primary source and type it's hard to say what type of cancer this actually is. So once you have a clearer picture you can then join the group for that specific cancer.
To give you an idea as to why this can be complicated and you don't jump to conclusions. In blood cancers like I have, growth areas in say the bladder, spleen and liver are not primary areas....... these are the result of having a blood cancer where the blood takes the cancer around the body and grows in other areas.
Cancer diagnosis is challenging but the system will find the truth for you ((hugs))
Ah, thankyou. Its a complete unnown area for me, as they say, it happens to other people. That is very informative though, though again. I will see what next week throws up and go from there.
You might that in a very odd way that knowing what is where will take out a whole lot of unknown worries and allow you to begin to process whats happening to you. Various roadmaps might then be open to you. But in this forum you are far from alone. I hope that helps a tiny bit but obviously nothing can really help any of us. We are all on our own journeys. I am sorry.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
