Hi
I am new to this community . My dad early 70 and has just been confirmed as having stomach cavity and liver cancer stage 4 untreatable and has developed to much. Either chooses chemo l therapy for support but can’t fix it or goes without. Awful decision to make. What possible advice can anyone provide of what
consultant showed us lots of pictures and interpreted them for us. The cancer has spread to the lining of the stomach cavity and the liver.
He explained the chemotherapy options with all the side effects. If it works it might extend my lifespan but at the costs of regular trips to hospital.
Any guidance would be much appreciated
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read about your dad's recent diagnosis and I know what a tough time this will be for the whole family.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the stomach cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others with a similar diagnosis, and also either the carers only group, if you are your dad's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not. Both of these two groups are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
To join the groups just click on the links I've created which will take you straight to the group where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
This link will take you to a blog which explains how to get the best out of the online community but if you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
