I was diagnosed incidentally over 2 years ago , covid got in the way of what would have been open surgery. Decided as tumours small to monitor rather than risk covid infection from hospital transmission. All good till 6 months ago when another growth presented itself in a rather fast growing manner so no choice but surgery now. Research suggested RAPN would offer me fastest recovery time and as an OAP that was a plus.
I feel privileged to know my condition can be cured by surgery, especially when I read some accounts on here and I feel such respect for what you are dealing with . If I can help anyone else in a similar position to myself I’m happy to post about my experience - what’s helped and what hasn’t and I’d welcome any hints from you guys re coping with post operative pain, practical things like diet and constipation not to be under estimated either so please share.
on a family level , I think my husband actually finds my diagnosis harder to deal with than me . I feel very positive but it has been necessary to talk about one’s deepest fears at times like this - that means saying the D word - death but you know what once it’s said , crying over we’ve been able to rebalance and see the more realistic picture . Gosh I’ve gone on a bit more than I intended, forgive me.
Hi Rennie and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm glad to hear that your cancer can be cured by surgery and thanks very much for offering to share your experiences.
I can see that you've already joined the kidney cancer group and I'm sure the other members would love to read about your experiences if you started a new post there. It would also be very useful for people just starting out of their 'journey'.
It would also be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
