Hi there,

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Nov 21.

I've had my operation and radiotherapy and have been given the all clear Fingers crossed I have my first mammagram in October but I'm stressing over this now thinking that the cancer will come back. I'm on Letrozole and Adcal D3 for the next 5 years but wish I could not be so anxious. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to do to help this anxiety as I'm normally a calm person.

xx

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community although I am sorry to see you joining us.

A cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but when it comes to support there is nothing better than talking with others who are on the exact same cancer and treatment journey.

I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 23 years now so I have had time to develop a ‘live in the moment’ mind set and enjoy life and not stress about stuff that has not happened.

The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) abd I see you have joined our Breast cancer group. This is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link(s) I have created above. Once the group page opens you can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

Macmillan have many support services so do check out the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Give me a shout if you need further help.

    All the very best.

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you for taking the time to reply and it sounds like you're on your own remarkable journey.

I've followed your link so thank you again. I will get used to this!

    Best wishes

  • Every cancer journey is remarkable in my book.

We all have to do what’s necessary to get through this and out the other end.

You may find it helpful to make a cuppa and have a look at this great paper After Treatment Finishes - Then What? by Dr Peter Harvey as it highlights the post treatment milestones.

Do connect in with the group as there is nothing better than talking with others who have walked the same type of journey.

Do also check out the links to see if there are any support groups in your area as the post treatment journey requires some determination and commitment.

You may also find it helpful to put your story into your profile, it’s a therapeutic thing to do and as always you can hit community members community names to see their stories - info at the bottom of my post for how to do your profile ((hugs))
