I have a couple of questions
I have to have a full body scan in a couple of days, and I've never had one before. Over a 45 minutes period prior to arrival I have to drink a litre of water then they are going to give me more on arrival. I know it's a daft question but does anyone know if I'm allowed to pee because it's going to go straight through me.
Secondly ... How long does the scan take and does it matter if I move slightly during the scan because I'm a right fidget and can't stay still for 5 mins !!
I know they are trivial questions and I've got a lot more serious things to worry about at the moment but the little things worry me too.
Sounds like you are having a CT scan with contrast. I had one and was told in the appointment letter that it was ok to pee. My interpretation (I am an electrical engineer, not medical in any way) is they want you well hydrated before they give you the contrast substance, all about minimising load on your kidneys.
Hi I see that you have posted in our Skin cancer group before so you are not new to the Community.
I have had many CT Scans with contrast over my 23 years. Yes you can pee as much as you want, but once you drink the contrast they don't want you to pee so be prepared for this.
You do need to lay as still as possible - but the scan won't take long.
Just call the Radiotherapy Department and ask the question.....they are used to receiving questions like this - put your mind at rest.
Thank you I will. My head is all over the place at the moment, I've just found out that I had been referred to Oncology after having a biopsy on my lymph nodes, it came as a shock, I'm so worried.
This time is indeed challenging but let's look got you to get clear answers soon.
