Hiya,
I'm just looking for some advice, back in April I noticed a hard lump under the skin on my jaw line, I left it a few weeks and it didn't go so went to my GP who sent me for an U/S which when the GP called with results said it was inconclusive and possibly my lymph nodes and said I could have another U/S in 3 months.
I called again a couple of weeks later and spoke with a different GP as I had more hard lumps I could feel under the skin and he apologised for what the previous GP had not done, he ordered urgent bloods (all fine apart from folates being low) and a CT.
Long story short I work in PET-CT and our Radioligust referred me to the H&N Team and after examination I'm having an U/S with Tru-cut biopsy. Other than the lumps which are hard and some are movable, my neck is swelling, I'm constantly tired, lower back pain and have been finding it harder to swallow.
Is there anyone here that has possibly had these same symptoms and had this type of biopsy.
Thank you so much!
Hi kinkles81 and welcome to the Online Community although I am sorry to see you joining us and to hear about your ongoing diagnoses.
A cancer diagnosis journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but when it comes to support there is nothing better than talking with others who are in the exact same position.
As you will know swollen lymph nodes can be caused by many things and yes cancer can be one. I have lived and been treated for my rare blood cancer (Cutaneous T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) for over 23 years and like many types of cancers my lymph-nodes, especially in my neck we’re very reactive.
I don’t know what a Tru-cut biopsy is. I did a site search and found no mention of it - this could be due to folks not knowing some of the more technical terms when they have a biopsy.
All I remember was last neck biopsy was massive and had to be done with a general anaesthetic. Your symptoms can indeed present for many cancer types….. you are in this no man’s land where the jigsaw is being assembled….. often a very stressful time.
The Community has various support groups (discussion rooms)…. if you look though this list you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
If you know what is being looked for then joins group but if you have no idea then stick to this initial thread and keep the discussion going until we can direct you better.
When you are ready to connect in with a group, click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above then find the group for your cancer type. Once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go.
