Hello
I was diagnosed with CLL two years ago. I have continued with my daily life not thinking of my diagnosis, or what lies ahead.
I was diagnosed after routine blood tests, after having fatigue and numerous chest infections, and lots of antibiotics.
I have decided to join this online community as it has suddenly hit me that I am feeling overwhelmed with what I have been diagnosed with.
I am keeping fairly well, my only symptoms are fatigue which can suddenly hit me out of the blue. I feel it is more my emotional state that has made me look for support. I am the support system for my elderly Mother and Father who have been in good health but now need my support (they also are separated, so two different visits on different days) albeit they are not in bad health where they need care, and remain in their own homes.. My Husband has numerous health problems too, and I feel I am the support for all of them, and some days it hits home that I am not getting the emotional support I feel i need, and would be grateful for any advice as I feel a little overwhelmed at the moment. Also because I come across as being healthy and not on any active treatment, you are seen as being able to cope. Thankyou.
Hi Rusticsoul and a warm welcome to the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various blood Cancer groups.
I don’t have CLL but I was diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare, incurable type of NHL Stage 4a so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is different I appreciate the challenges of this journey well.
The Community has various support groups (discussion rooms) so can I suggest that you consider joining our supportive CLL, SLL, HCL group. This is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above. Then once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you in the group.
