Hi there...I'm new to the group. My husband was diagnosed with Advanced Metastatic Prostate cancer in June. He is currently on hormone therapy bicalutamide/decapeptyl. Still awaiting oncology appointment for chemo. That has made me feel sick just writing that. Talk about throwing your life upside down but here I know there will be a lot of empathy. My question is...he has tested positive for Covid & is suffering with a really sore throat & a nasty chest. He's already on Zapain so I can't give him any more paracetamol. Is there any advice out there? I did put a call in to his Macmillan nurse but obviously too late for her on Friday or should I call 111? Thank you, Di

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your husband has recently tested positive for covid and is feeling really poorly. None of us here are medically trained, just fellow cancer patients, so we can't give advice about medical issues. However, if you are worried then calling NHS111 would be a good idea as they will be able to give you advice.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the prostate cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about your husband's prostate cancer treatment and also the carers only group where you can discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.

To join just click on the links I've created and then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help

Thank you so much! I have joined both those groups & have phoned NHS111 for advice. I will work on the profile later. Very grateful wishing you all the best. Di
