Hi, I was diagnosed in February which came as such a shock as I am fit and healthy and have never been ill, I have just finished Chemotherapy, I have surgery end of the month. I feel very lucky that my Cancer is contained to one area and that hopefully Surgery will be almost the end of my journey. I still have tablets and early menopause to face.I was supported by an ex partner for half of my treatment, messaging, being there at appointments and a real rock, when we were together he treated me like we were back together,I don't have many friends so I really relied on him, before he decided a day aftervwe had been away for a few days that he did not want to support me anymore. He said it was because his father died of Cancer which I accepted, but then started messaging again but only when it suited him, rarely asking how I was and now because he has found another interest he says he doesn't want to know. I am annoyed with myself for letting him back into my life and hurting me like he has done. Many people have said just to cut contact with him, easier said than done,I just can't let it go and am really struggling to forgive myself and keep him off my mind. Thanks for listening
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your ex-partner has recently let you down but you can rest assured that everyone here will do their best to support you.
The online community is divided up into different support groups where you can chat to others who have the same type of cancer as you to find out about their experiences and to give and receive support. To get to the appropriate one for you, you could either let me know what type of cancer you have or look through the cancer specific groups for the type of cancer.
It would be great if you could pop something about about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
