Mum has been diagnosed with Breast cancer stage 2. She has had it removed along with 17 lymph nodes one of which has cancer.

She has a drain in for the next 20 days or so. What would next steps look like? The surgeon mentioned potential chemo and radiation but can’t confirm until his seniors are back from holiday on the 1st.

anyone have any advice? I’m so worried about her. She is a fighter and it is positive that the surgery successfully removed the tumour and the lymph node

thank you advance

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and having this diagnosis myself, I know what a worrying time this might be for you right now.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others with the same type of cancer as your mum, and also either the carers only group, if you are your mum's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not her carer. Both of these groups are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.

To join these groups just click on the links I've created and you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
