Hi, I have just joined this group. I am interested to know how people cope with having recurring cancer. How long in remission before it came back, how many times the cancer has occurred.  I have just found out that the cancer has come back this is the 6th time. Previously my mind has been fine, but today my mind is all over the place.

  • Hi  and a welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to see you joining us.

I was diagnosed way back from n 1999 with an incurable blood cancer and for the first 17 years the longest remission I had was 9 months before starting my next new treatment but I am now 5 years in remission and doing great, it just shows the developments in treatments.

The Community has various support groups (discussion rooms) but I see you have joined and posted in our Ovarian cancer group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

Macmillan have many support platforms so do check out the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. These services provide cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Give me a shout if you need further help.

    Best regards.

  • Dear NanaS…. am so sorry that you are facing yet another onslaught and another round of whatever treatments you are receiving to get you well again. I just wanted to say that I admire your strength so very much. To say that it has taken 6 reoccurrences and yet only now is your mind all over the place is truly amazing. This is how I know you will draw on that previous mindset of dealing with the everyday and the rare and fight through these current anxious times. With admiration…. Susan x

  • Thank you Susan for your words of encouragement. When my mind gets all fuddled I will re read your words. NanaS xx
