My mum has had intense chemo and radiation for the past 5 weeks everyday in a row. She is recovering at the moment but is still very nauseous and hasn’t left the house or even gone into the garden in 3 weeks. I don’t know how to help her. Is anyone able to give me ideas or suggestions that she could do as she seems to have given up. I live 2 hours away from her so can’t be in person to support her

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read how your mum is feeling after having recent treatment and it's natural that you want to know how you can help.

The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and to find out how others are providing support.

Clicking on the link I've created will take you to the group where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

You might also want to join one of the cancer specific groups for the type of cancer that your mum has so you can connect with others who are having the same or similar treatment and who can tell you what they found helped. Clicking on the link will take you to the list.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your mum's diagnosis and treatment plan into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
