Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia

Hi, I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia in mid April this year.  It was very sudden: over the previous two weeks I had a few symptoms; and was diagnosed when I went to A&E with a badly swollen wrist.  I was immediately admitted to hospital, where I remained for over three weeks, beginning my chemo there, which is continuing as an outpatient.  I am now in molecular remission, so so far so good.  Anyone else living with APL wish to get in touch?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the leukaemia group which is a great places to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer. I've had a look in the group and can see that someone else with the type you have posted just a couple of months ago.

Clicking on the link I've created will take you to the group where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help

Hi. I was diagnosed with APL in august after a persistent rash and temperature. It’s pretty lonely out there as there don’t seem to be many of us. Congrats on your molecular remission! I it’s a brutal disease.  If you wanna get in touch then feel free to message me!
