I have just been diagnosed and start chemo with Cisplatin and radiotherapy for 6 weeks on Monday.

I had a RIG tube fitted last Monday ,in case I can't eat  later in treatment and it is still quite sore.Apparently Cisplatin treatment takes 4-5 hours and then I have radiotherapy with the mask.

It's all a bit overwheming as I think everyone finds.

I just read a few post -treatment posts wwhich are very reassuring

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

You're right when you say that everything is a bit daunting at first but most people find that once they get started everything feels more manageable.

I can see that you've already found and joined the head and neck cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who have the same type of cancer as you.

When you feel ready to post there you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and planned treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
