Hi All
I had anal cancer, with chemo radiotherapy 8 years ago and like many thought it was over! I was cured! That was it!
But - over the last 3 years I have been developing more and more post treatment late onset side effects to the point I am now really struggling. Pelvic treatment is not good. I have recently started a photographic project to try and clear my mind. It helps a bit.
I am sick of people telling me 'you are cured' 'stop fussing' 'you should be grateful'
Is it just me?
Hi Bubbles Rabbit and a welcome to the Online Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us and to hear about your post treatment challenges.
A cancer journey can be full of twists and turns but when it comes to support there is nothing better than talking with others who are in the same position.
The Community has various support groups (discussion rooms) I do see you have joined our supportive Anal cancer group and our Life after cancer group. These are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above. Then once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Give me a shout if you need further help.
Best regards.

Hi. This is a particular bugbear . What I found useful was to print a few copies of this article and distribute them among family and friends.
I hang around the Head and Neck cancer Group so likely share a common cause.
Best wishes
Dani
