Hey xx It’s taken me a while to join here but as I coming to the end of my treatment Im starting to feel more apprehensive and worried what happens next!
I think while I’ve been going through the journey it’s been so busy with operations, scans, hospital apts, telephone calls and now finally radiotherapy that I’ve just got on with everything at a fast pace and now treatment is ending it’s kind of hitting me more with what happens next! I know I’ll have regular check ups etc but my life has totally changed and I’m not the person physically or mentally that I used to be so I decided to join this group to get support in going forward!
I was diagnosed with stage 3c vulvar cancer which had spread to my lymph nodes so have had 2 ops to remove the tumour and margins and all my lymph nodes from both sides of my groin, which has left me with lymphoma in my vulva and legs! I’m 47 years old was very fit and active loved the gym, loved mountain climbing in the lakes, bike riding and running!
So I suppose I’m asking can life after cancer ever go back to what it was before?
Hi Clarabell and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm glad to read that you're nearing the end of your treatment but it's common to wonder what happens next and if life will ever go back to normal.
I can see that you've already found and joined the vulva cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who have that type of cancer.
You might also want to look at joining the life after cancer group as it's aimed at cancer survivors and people who have finished treatment. It is a space to discuss things like the physical and emotional after effects of cancer, returning to work, or trying to move on with your life.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
