My friend has just finished her last chemo treatment (yay!). She cold capped throughout the chemo and used Paxman shampoo and conditioner. She has retained a fair bit of her hair which she is obviously very pleased about. Can anyone suggest how she should go forward with her hair care regime? She obviously wants to encourage new hair growth and protect the existing hair. She has read that oils for the scalp are good and perhaps some baby shampoo, but other articles indicate to resume normal care routine, so it's a bit confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you.
Hi CaroleG and welcome to the Macmillan Online Community and it’s great to hear good that you are looking out for your friend.
As each type of chemo affects us differently it would be good to talk with others who had the exact same treatment so if you care to have a look through this list you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above. Then once you find the group for your friends cancer type click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
All the very best to your friend.
