Good evening I'm a carer for my mum she was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease two years ago,and just a few days ago was sadly diagnosed with skin cancer with surgery required.
I'm really struggling to accept this any advice, help and support anyone can offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks Reddean.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with skin cancer and, having had skin cancer myself, I know what a worrying time this will be for you.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join either the melanoma group, if that is the type of cancer your mum has, or the skin cancer group which is for non-melanoma skin cancer. Whichever group is the appropriate one for you, you'll find they're great places to ask questions and share experiences with others who have had skin cancer.
To join just click on the relevant link I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
I think you'd also benefit from joining either the carers only group, if you're your mum's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not. These are both safe and supportive places to discuss your emotions and worries with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
