My dad has just been diagnosed with advanced cancer and he might not have long to live. I'm finding it difficult to cope with the fact he is Ill and might be gone soon. Any advice?. Thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read about your dad's recent diagnosis and it must be incredibly hard for you right now.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is for carers, friends and families of people with an advanced cancer diagnosis to discuss their emotions and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you feel up to it it would be good if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
