Hi all I had a biopsy done a few weeks ago and still waiting on results gp sent an urgent referral after looking at the suspicious lump.when the gynecologist looked at it he referred me to another at another hospital to do the biopsy,I called a few days ago for results to be told a planned meeting was due that day but all my results wernt back and has been pushed back to.thursday next week. Does that mean it's really bad? I can't think straight anyone going through the same thst can advise thanks x
Hi Grannym and a warm welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnosis.
The cancer diagnosis process can be a stressful and challenging time. The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting needs sign off on treatment plans but won’t if they don’t have all the information together to make this decision.
I have experienced this wait many times over my 23 years but I found it actually reassurance that care was being taken to get everything correct and a clear plan put in place to move thing forward. I do hope you hear soon.
The New to Community area is like our reception desk where we can signpost you to our various cancer support groups and other services. I do see that you have joined and posted in our Vulva cancer group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear and our Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section helpful but do allow a few working days for a reply.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
Talking to people face to face when on a cancer journey can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area.
Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre in your area as these folks are amazing and provide support for all the family.
Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.
All the very best.
Thankyou
I’ve now had an ultrasound and it shows enlarged nodes so planned surgery for Tuesday and they want to remove the lymph nodes at same time but no biopsy was done now I’m concerned it’s spread further in my body surely they wouldn’t take if not needed to I’m at my wits end now.x
Hi again Grannym, the removed lymph-nodes will be sent to pathology and will be checked for cancer cells as the Lymphatic System is very often the cancer cell ‘delivery’ route through the body.
In blood cancers like my one the main focus for biopsies are the Lymph-nodes.
You may want to put up a post in the Vulva cancer group as these folks will better understand the journey you are on and give you first hand support based on their experiences - my journey is very very different.
Do remember that the Macmillan Support Line is around to give practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear…… a burden shared is a burden halved ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
