Hello

I have started my treatment just a week in radio daily and chemotherapy weekly I have tried all governments benefits like universal credit and esa both said they can’t pay me anything due to my wife earning enough (£1300) a month obviously me finding work has made huge issues as soon as I say I have treatment seems the door gets slammed shut on me unfortunately I was between work when I found out I had neck cancer and need to tell any new employer my situation.

does anyone or can anyone point in in the right direction to someone who can give me some advice I have messaged universal credit as they don’t reply to phone calls and no reply I am stuck and know things are about to get worse we are literally living below the bread line in terms of support I am worried.

thank you for any help or suggestions

  • Hi again .

Could I suggest you call the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides a full benefits and financial guidance service as well as Work Advice.

I was surprised that my Macmillan Financial Advisor opened door that I didn't know existed.

Do also check to see if any Local Macmillan Support in your area has opened up. Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre in your area as these folks are amazing and provide support in these specific areas you are looking at.
