I was diagnosed approximately 5 years ago with Stage Four metastatic prostate cancer.
I was informed that this was incurable but could be possibly controlled with treatment. I have recieved chemotherapy, radiotherapy and take Abriraterone Acetate daily. I also recieve a three monthly Lupron injection.
Things have been reasonably controlled until very recently the cancer has become active again. This has left me feeling very low and angry about my situation. I am questioning why me ,why do I have to go through everything again. I finished radiotherapy last week and I am now waiting to see if it was effective. I know that eventually I will need to undertake chemotherapy again.
Just feels very unfair. My pain is controlled at present by codeine and paracetamol. Not in a happy place.
Hi Greyhound and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm really sorry to read that your prostate cancer has become active again and it's no wonder that you're feeling as you do.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the prostate cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences, and also the living with incurable cancer group where you can get support from others who have an incurable diagnosis.
To go to the groups just click on the links I've created (green writing) and then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
