Hi,

I am new here,

My daughter age 9 discovered one Grape sized node on the side of her neck around October 2021, I left it a few weeks as she was well in her self. Skip to January 22 when I was finally able to get a GP appointment. She then had more nodes around her neck and under jaw and chin. X2 of the large nodes are visible, the rest are by feel. These nodes are accompanied with Intermittent tummy pains and mouth ulcers. (Alot of ulcers )

Bloods were performed, all clear, including tests for infection and glandular fever. Ultrasound done, result satisfactory.

She has since found more nodes in her groin and she has described her tummy pains above the naval and sometimes sharp pain near bladder. Anything can induce the tummy pain. Even sitting in same position. She is not eating as much as she use to and complains of tumy pain half way through her meals.

The Gp. Has not ordered anymore test and reffered her to the general paediatricion at the hospital.  Which could be months away before she gets am appointment.

Should I update the GP of the new findings of nodes In groin and her description of tummy pains?

Should I be requesting anymore tests whilst writing for hospital appointment?

Should I feel confident with the initial Ultrasound results being satisfactory or should I take these with a pinch of salt and ask for further clarification that cancer is not the cause?

I am driving myself insane. The doctor agreed her body is upset somewhere. I need cancer ruled out so I can relax and then investigate other issues. Possibly bowel/ digestion.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about your daughters on going health investigations.

I have to say that we have 4 granddaughters the oldest being 9 the youngest 6…… and two of them have had regular reactive nodes but these were well checked out and found not to be a problem as they disappeared over time.

Mystery Heath problems in children can be such a stressful and challenging time.

I would be keeping an open conversation with her GP so yes get an appointment and have her checked out again.

Ultrasounds are a great tool but seeing a paediatrician is the way forward as they understand the growing body of a child so let’s look for the appointment to come in soon.
