My husband does not sleep well but seems to exist on about 5 hours a day spread out over the 24. However I need more sleep. Just recently I have been waking up at 3 and then nit being able to sleep anymore. I used to not be able to trust my husband during the night. He did some strange things but he is better now and I find it difficult to sleep. It is frustrating particularly as we had our first am dram rehearsal last night. I have the lead role and my husband is the "talking " cat Kevin. Well he only talks to me (as he has had a total laryngectomy ) but he is also a good mime actor and made everyone laugh.
It was so "normal" with all our friends and a great night. We rarely go out at nights so I was tired when I got in. I am trying lose weight so I had ! Banana and a glass of water so I was good and niw I have woken up at 3.30. My husband's illness has taken its toll on me and I have a facial problem like bell's palsy. It has been there since the start of his illness but I have nit been able to do much to it because we were busy with my husband's illness and now he is more settled, it us getting worse, affecting my eyesight now and a opinion when driving
Some say it is stress but it has never been properly diagnosed. Has anyone else noticed that as their "caree" has stabilised that their own health suffers? Anyone else with stress etc.
Hi
I'm sorry to read that you're struggling to sleep and that your own health has suffered since your husband's diagnosis.
As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the carers only group which is a great place to share your emotions and get support from other others who have a loved one living with cancer.
It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
