Hello,

On Tuesday my husband found out he has a tumour between the bowel, bladder and prostate. Hes been having abdominal pain for around 7 weeks and he went to see his GP around 5 weeks a go. The MRI is tomorrow and MDT on Friday. Things are moving fast after a horrendous few weeks. He was originally referred for colonoscopy but the lump is outside the bowel. Bloods and CT have been done so far and yesterday he got called in to the surgical day unit to be seen by the surgeon.

we don’t have a treatment plan yet, i am currently off work with him because ican’t stop crying and there are a lot of hospital trips. Did other people do this?

i still feel like we don’t know what is coming. The surgeon thinks that three months of radiotherapy in a Liverpool (2 hours away) is the likely course of action.

i am 33 and my husband is 41, this has been a huge shock. Any advice welcome. I know this is still very vague.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your husband has recently been diagnosed with a tumour. I know from experience how fast everything moves once cancer is suspected and hopefully it won't be too long before you'll know what the treatment plan is.

The online community is divided up into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the carers only group which is a great place to share your emotions and get support from other others who have a loved one living with cancer. When you feel ready to post there just click on the link I've created which will take you straight there. You can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

Once you know what type of cancer you're dealing with I'd recommend you look through this list and join the appropriate group which will give you the chance to ask questions and share experiences with others with that type of cancer.

When you know more it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
