Hi all- new here
For a few months I’ve been having recurrent chest infections, swelling above my rib cage and a horrific cough alongside finger clubbing that I’ve noticed today, breathlessness etc. Spoke to my doctor on Thursday who prescribed me an inhaler and sent me for an urgent X-ray Thursday night. Obviously still waiting for the results but I’m over googling everything and worrying so much.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read about your symptoms and I know how worrying waiting for results can be. Please try and avoid goggling your symptoms as it'll only feed your worries rather than sooth them. My advice would be to immerse yourself in doing things that you enjoy so that you have less time to think about the 'what ifs'.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group, not because this is what I think you have but because it's what you're worried about having and it's a great place to ask questions, share experience and get support.
Clicking on the link I've created will take you there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your symptoms and tests so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
Hi Flashpanda, just read your post and I'm moved to respond, even though I've just been on this site for a very short while. In this case I dont believe that 'Google is your friend', as whatever you search for will bring up a whole plethora of information, based around whatever you put into the search engine. If you have a symptom, stick it in Google, then it'll come up with something its found, especially if you also mention 'cancer'. In my humble opinion its so much wiser to ask questions from the medically trained experts in the Health Service, who are much more likely to give you advice and help specifically tailored to you, based upon their tests, knowledge and experience in exactly the matters that are worrying you.
Don't Google it...the NHS is more reliable.
