Hi folks.   Was diagnosed 22/2/2022 - not such a lucky day for me! BC picked up on a mammogram- two tumours. (It was a day for two’s it seems!). BC surgeon said chemo before surgery in the hopes of shrinking the tumours so I can have a lumpectomy rather than mastectomy. Chemo started 31/3. EC to start with for 4 rounds and then something else (can’t remember what it is right now) for the next 4 rounds. I’m trying to carry on working for as long as I can (office work and I am working from home only.) So far, following round one in the chemo boxing ring- I winning on points. Have had constipation and stomach pain, couple of bouts of sickness, then diarrhoea bit mostly feel okay. I’m wondering whether anyone else is trying to work through this? Am I being unrealistic thinking that I might be able to do this?

Hi. I got diagnosed in November and have had reconstructive surgery. I now wonder if chemo and lumpectomy would have been a better option.. anyhow I have my appt next week with the oncologist with a view to starting chemo.in the next few weeks..really don't know what to expect. I have been signed off work for the duration of the chemo as its looking like 5 months long

  • Hi and and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.

Clicking on the link I've created will take you to the group where you can join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and planned treatment, when you know more, into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If either of you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
