Hello all. I was diagnosed at the end of August 2021 with early stage but aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I completed 6 months of chemo at the end of March and will be having surgery on 20th April. I have the BRCA1 gene and opted for a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction straight away. I am now in the head space of getting ready for surgery next week and just wondering if anyone has any hints or tips to help with recovery and this journey. Thanks.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join both the main breast cancer group and also the triple negative breast cancer group which are great places to ask your questions about recovery, etc, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.

Clicking on the links I've created will take you to the groups where you can join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and planned treatment, when you know more, into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
