Hi my names Jess. I'm 18, just by a few weeks ago..
I first heard of cancer when I was 7 because my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had some treatment and was cancer free. And then when I was 11 she had cancer again and by the time I was 12 my mum had sadly passed away.
I hoped after mum I wouldn't have to brush with cancer again in my family. But sadly, I did and am. When I was 15 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I'm one of the small percentage who got it before they reached 40-50+. I won't go into details because tbh it's just really depressing and crushing but it spread and I went through a lot of treatment but it just made me so sick and it continued to grow and race around my body so now treatment has stopped. I have a great support, loads of lovely nurses looking out for me. I have my dad and sisters. And I also have a mental health team supporting me as I have got a little depressed since my diagnosis.
I do try to be positive and keep doing the things I enjoy. I love to walk and when I feel well enough I do go out but I'm finding in the last month I can't walk as far now so that's disappointing. But trying to stay upbeat.
I wanted to come here as I do feel a bit alone at times and I'd also like to offer my own support to others in the same boat.
Anyway I'm going on now so I'll stop.
It's nice to meet you ^-^
Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community. I read your story and I really feel for you, life had dealt you a rubbish card. You're not going on, you're very brave to take this leap of faith and join this lovely community.
I'm going t suggest you join us in the Living with incurable cancer forum. Just click on the link I've created to join and copy and paste your post to introduce yourself.
I've been there a couple of months and I find the members hugely supportive with sometimes a quirky sense of humour.
Look forward to seeing you there, hugs, Barb xx

Hi Barb, it's so lovely to meet you,
Thank you so much for the welcome and for suggesting to join the forum. I have applied to join so hopefully soon I can post there.
I wasn't sure about joining at first but I thought I would in the end as it means I won't be alone and I can help support you and others through your own journeys. Life hasn't been kind to any of us sadly but I like to think there are good times and days ahead for us all.
I'm glad you also came here and have found it such a supportive and sometimes fun place to be. I'm sure I will feel the same way as well :)
Thank you again for welcoming me and your kindness. I appreciate it a lot.
Best wishes,
Jess xx
