Just joined forum. Long story so please bear with me. Developed tumor in submandibular gland (left side under jaw) around Sept 2019. Reported to VA doctor but was told it was just a
swollen lymph node. Tumor continued to grow and get "hard" over the next few months. Then covid hit and I couldn't get back into doctor until Oct 2020. Got biopsy (positive for follicular lymphoma). PET Scan also confirmed I had it in spleen, around lungs, around liver and pancreas and abdomen.. Had to get covid test before getting second biopsy for more detail. No symptoms but positive test. Quarantined for two weeks while having zero symptoms. Got second biopsy and was diagnosed with stage 4 follicular lymphoma. 6 weeks later had anti-body test that was positive for strong anti-bodies. Was placed on watch and wait. Second PET Scan at two months showed no increase of lymphoma saturation. 3rd PET Scan at 3 months showed reduction in saturation everywhere but abdomen.. 4th Pet scan 4/1/2022 states there is no detectable lymphoma period. My oncologist was very skeptical 3 months ago but is now realizing that covid is likely the reason for total remission. He has another patient with leukemia that was classified as terminal in 2021, got covid and is now leukemia free also. I believe God used that evil virus to hyperactivate our t-cell production and put our cancer into remission. I have since read about several others that had similar experiences. I know many of you here are struggling with nasty treatments and questionable prognosis. May God be as gracious and merciful with you as He has with me.
Hi and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out around our blood cancer groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable (skin) Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a so have been on this journey rather a long time and know it well.
You may want to join our Follicular Lymphoma group as this will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, to ask questions and get support.
Lymphomas especially Low Grade types like follicular lymphoma are very reactive to various metabolic and chemical changes in our bodies so getting covid and developing antibodies will happen. T-Cell response is actually hard to gauge/test but our T-Cells are indeed out bodies killer cells so it’s sounds like they did the job for you.
