All a bit of a whirl

I  seem to have had tings happen slowly then a bit of a whirl, I found a small lump on the tubes in my testes, it was ultrasound scanned last summer and after much umming and ahhhing from the doctor and the nurse scanning they decided it was a fatty lump as I mentioned I had had those in other parts of my body.  Well  November it had tripled in size and was painful all the time so I went back.  Got an MRI in January and they confirmed it was a fatty lump, but they said they may send it to senior consultant for their meeting.

Then a couple of weeks ago I got a message to come for an appointment Thursday to see a urology consultant, and just told I had a sarcoma and that my testicle and obviously the tubes with the lump on would be removed.  Although I have since been told that they cannot be sure until its removed, but it has to be removed.  I will be contacted about my preop on monday as the person for that was not in till then and expected the operation in the next couple of weeks.  Its a bit of a blur and I am not sure what is involved in preops or operations like this as I have never had one before.  It sounds silly but what would you recommend I take into hospital and ask as to a certain extent my brain shut down on questions to the medical staff.

Also I am due to go on a cruise 30th of November, what do I do about travel insurance etc?

On a lighter note I like to use humour to cope, so the testicle that has the lump is now called Putin as it is bad news and has to go, the other one is called Zelensky as I am confident its going to step up to the role under pressure!

  • Hi and welcome to the community. It is always an anxious time when you do not have any firm answers. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing too sinister. The pre op assessment is just a check to make sure you will be able to deal with the anaesthetic. They check your heart, blood pressure and ask lots of medical questions. I had an op similar to your a few weeks ago. Not the same, but the procedure should be similar. You don't know much about the op itself. A needle in the hand and the next you know, you are waiting up in recovery. I was only in for a few hours, but prepare for an overnight stay. I had several dissolvable stitches. A bit tender for a few weeks, but healed nicely. Maybe a bit early for you, but you may like to look in the testicular group where the guys may be able to offer more information. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
