Hi all ,
so I’ve been having problems with my bottom and didn’t really think too much of it , put it down to piles
late January I decided to contact the doctor as the pain was getting out of control
had a telephone conversation and prescribed cream and told if no better in 10 days then a face to face appointment was needed
so on 25th February- yes had to wait that long for a face to face - I eventually saw a doctor
he wasn’t sure what was wrong so decided to refer me , by the time I hit home he had rang me twice to ask me to come back so another doctor could give a second opinion, went back Tuesday the other doctor said he thought I had an abscess so I was referred to a surgeon, had that appointment Wednesday last week,
let’s just say I was not ready for what he told me
im having a biopsy on Friday and need cat scan and mri scan
the surgeons words were ‘ that’s nasty and looks very sinister’
please can someone put my mind at ease that a biopsy does not automatically mean cancer
Hi Poohbear and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place.
It's natural to assume the worse-case scenario but there can be lots of non-cancerous explanations.
I can see that you've already joined and posted in the anal cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
Thank you , will update once I have confirmed diagnosis of what’s going on
