Hi my mum was diagnosed with cancer of her pancreas on the 13th of jan. Its been a massive shock to us all. She has had alot of complications due to the tumour and she spent 5 weeks in hospital for all this to be sorted out. We have not seen an oncologist yet because of all this so its like we are all sitting on a time bomb! We arent sure if she can have any treatment due to the complications and her age she is 84 but a very young 84! We do not know the stage or if its spread or anything yet. My mum thought she had already been treated for the cancer but i had to tell her she hadnt, it was awfull. We are seeing her dr in tuesdsy so hopefully we will get more answers then. She is such a strong positive woman, she loves all the family being around her and she has a great sense of humour, we are always laughing. It just all seems unreal, like a bad dream. Trying to be strong for my beautiful mum.

Hi Paula g and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I know what a shock this will be for the whole family.
As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the pancreatic cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer, and also the family and friends group where you can discuss your worries and emotions and get support from others who have a loved one dealing with cancer.
To join just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
