Hi , I thought I would join this amazing group as I want to know how best to support my sister whos husband has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He has just started treatment . They are both incredibly positive people however understandably extremely daunted by the situation they now find themselves in.  I want to be there for them both so apart from being a listening ear or /and a shoulder to cry on how can I best support my sister who is doing an incredible job at supporting her husband ?

Thank you xx

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your brother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer but it's great that you want to do all you can to support them.

As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the family and friends group which is a safe place to share your feelings and get support and also the lung cancer group where you can ask questions and share experiences with this type of cancer.

To join just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your brother-in-law's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
