Hi.
Im new here. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, I had wide excision surgery initially but my borders still showed more DCIS, so had mastectomy which showed Grade 1 and lots more DCIS.
My oncologist who was a locum, said I needed to be on letrazole meaning I needed to be put into menopause with Zolidax monthly and have 6 monthly Zometa for bone strengthening.
I had review with breast care team this week and she was shocked into how aggressive my treatment is. She took my case to the MDT meeting and all the oncologists agreed that I should not of been put into menopause and should just be on Tamoxifen.
Im not sure how i feel about it all, will I go back out of menopause now? I’ve been on it since April 2021. Has this happened to anyone else? Is Tamoxifen as good as Letrazole?
Thank you for reading. Xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both informative and supportive.

As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help

Is there any way I can move it?

  • You can't move the post but to save you typing it out again just copy and paste it into a new post in the breast cancer group.
