Hi all, I’m the husband of a woman who is being treated with breaker cancer. She was diagnosed last April and had been through chemo, mastectomy and was told she had no cancer left in the breast or lymph nodes. We were just told that they missed some lymph nodes as part of the surgery but we need not worry. My wife pushed for them to go back in to get the lymph nodes they missed against their recommendation and they discovered several with cancerous cells. So now that when we thought we were in the home stretch after a bit of radiotherapy, instead she now has little faith in her doctors and is so worried and anxious because she’s been downgraded from stage 2 to stage 3. Can anyone give me some information that can help reassure her? Of the 12 lymph nodes removed in the 2nd attempt, 2 have been found as cancerous. They have offered more intensive radiotherapy.
Hi and a warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place.
As it's divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask your questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your wife's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
